We had a mandatory family reunion with my siblings and their families this month. We camped on the mountain above my parents' town and had a great time eating awesome meals, hanging around, watching the deer that grazed in the meadow behind our tents, and playing an old Viking game called Kube (pronounced koob). You may be able to see from the photo above that it's about lining up some blocks and then throwing other blocks at the opponent's line, knocking out their soldiers, and a whole lot of other rules I missed.

We took up a lot of space since I have eight brothers and sisters and my grandparents came too.

This is Shannon with two of her amazing cousins. There was a whole herd of three-year olds running around, and they loved it! Shannon is sporting the purple foam hat she made. The kids made a bunch of crafts. The shirts turned out great. They have a temple, a Viking ship for our Scandinavian heritage, a pioneer wagon, and a thistle for our Scots blood. Shannon loved borrowing a kid's-sized sleeping bag. She's holding the backpack it goes in right here.

This is a shot of a bunch of the hats. I'm in the middle back holding Shannon. I'd give everyone's names, but this website isn't yet secured.

These are the participants in one of the family runs sponsored by my amazing younger sister. She planned a kid's dash, a one-miler, and a 5K. She had prizes and routes mapped out, and she was the race promoter, too. This was a great part of our family's get fit challenge.

This is some of the kids running.

Aren't they having a great time?

This is the kids lining up for their race. We used crepe paper for the finish (and starting) line.

The patriarch and matriarch of our clan. It was fabulous to have them there, too.

Isn't my sister and her family adorable?

The same really goes for all my sibs. These guys even look good early in the morning.

Shannon is watching her first campfire ever here in this shot.

These two get along especially well.

This was the craft table. Right here the kids are making big bouffant paper hats. I think the most memorable one was the big paper spider the oldest cousin made.

This Dad and the boys. They were trying to see who was the tallest.

Nearly all the three-year old cousins gathered together on Grandma's couch.

This isn't how we got Shannon shipped to Grandmas. The real story is long and sordid and will have to wait for another time. Let's just say that flying really shouldn't take three days. We were so glad to get here!

I love your comments. It was good to see you. I hope you never have an airplane experience like that again. Liz misses Shannon.
